Following his £75 million move to Manchester United this summer, everything that Romelu Lukaku does on the football pitch will be scrutinised.
The Belgian striker, who left Everton for the Red Devils in order to win trophies, made his first appearance for the Red Devils against LA Galaxy on Saturday evening.
Lukaku had a couple of chances to open his account for his new club but was unable to hit the back of the net.
Instead, the Belgian was outshone by his young teammate Marcus Rashford, who scored twice for United in the first half.
Marouane Fellaini, Henrikh Mkhitaryan and Anthony Martial scored United’s other three goals before Giovani dos Santos made the scoreline slightly more respectable for the home side with a late brace.
Lukaku will be disappointed that he failed to score on his ‘debut’. At times, it felt as if he was probably a little too eager to find the target.
One of his shots, in particular, was incredibly optimistic.
In the 74th minute of the match, Lukaku received the ball, span and then walloped it into Row Z, much to the amusement of Chelsea fans on Twitter.
